What is Occupational Therapy?
Getting ready in the morning, caring for ourselves, caring for family, participating in school, work or play, connecting with friends, engaging in hobbies & interests, managing routines, and making time for sleep & rest.
These everyday activities (occupations) are the foundation of how we participate in the world around us.
How we “occupy” our time shapes our health, well-being, and sense of identity.
Many people think of occupation as a job or a career. In the occupational therapy profession, the word retains its broader meaning, encompassing how we fill our days—from the things we must do to the things we choose to do.
Occupational therapy understands that autonomy, engagement, and involvement in meaningful activities play an important role in health and well-being. Rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or limitation, occupational therapy focuses on helping people continue participating in the activities and roles that matter most to them.
Putting this understanding into practice is the foundation of what I refer to as occupational wellness.
Person-centered and grounded in real life, Everyday Matters focuses on support that adapts to people—not systems.
A therapy session is just one hour—lasting progress it’s built through the countless everyday moments that follow.
My goal is to help individuals & caregivers feel confident applying personalized strategies in their everyday environments, routines & relationships—when & where life actually happens.
